Dai Mai- Acupuncture

Dai Mai The only channel that runs horizontally - primary or extraordinary!

The Dai Mai encircles the waist like a belt and divides the body into two halves. It is closely associated with the free flow of Liver Qi, the circulation of essence and raising of Spleen Qi. It has the essential function of keeping energy flowing effectively between the top and bottom half of the body. If the belt is too tight, energy is restricted and can't flow properly causing pain, sluggishness or heaviness.

If the Dai Mai is too loose or weak, energy can't rise properly and can cause fluids and dampness to gather in the Lower Burner. This can be shown in symptoms like difficult urination, cloudy urine, excessive vaginal discharge, chronic UTI's and yeast infections. Many other conditions can point to an issue with the Dai Mai such as:

  • hernias

  • leg atrophy or weakness

  • organ prolapse

  • irregular menstruation

  • recurrent miscarriages

  • low back pain

  • temporal headaches

  • anger issues

  • gallbladder pain

  • chronic neck pain and shoulder tension

  • abdominal pain

  • hip pain
