Acupuncture + Autumn

I get really excited when I start to feel the chill in the air. I’m an Autumn baby who craves sweater weather , to see the leaves change colour and yes, the occasional pumpkin spice latte.

It’s also when I love to increase my consumption of pears. In Chinese Medicine, Autumn is the season of our lungs and dryness. Pears specifically affect the lungs, they eliminate heat and excess mucous, stops coughing, moistening the lungs and throat and combats overall dryness.

My favourite way to prepare pears are to gently stew them over low heat with some warming spices such as cinnamon or cardamom until they break down and make a thick sauce. This helps energetically and physically warm them up to balance their overall cool nature.

So the next time you’re at your local market pick up some yummy pears and book in your acupuncture appointment to further support your immune system.
