Microneedling is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment designed to boost collagen and address various skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scars, uneven texture, and more. At Humanity Wellness, we use the SkinPen Precision Device, which works by creating tiny channels in the skin with sterilized microneedles, triggering collagen and elastin production. We prioritize safety and results, which is why we chose the SkinPen—an FDA and Health Canada-approved medical-grade device that ensures you receive the best and safest treatment available.

FAQ

How long does microneedling last?

Microneedling works best over time, as it stimulates your skin’s natural healing process to produce new collagen. To achieve the best results, multiple sessions are needed over several months. We recommend a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart, for optimal outcomes.

How long is the recovery time?

After each session, the skin usually takes about 5-7 days to heal. During this period, you may experience some redness, swelling, and crusting. Once the skin has fully healed, you'll notice an improvement in its texture and tone.

How do I prepare for microneedling?

Although the treatment is generally safe and gentle, there are a few steps you can take to prepare and minimize any discomfort.

First, cleanse your skin thoroughly before your session to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup that could interfere with the microneedling process. Avoid using exfoliating products in the days leading up to your appointment, as these can irritate the skin. Additionally, try to limit sun exposure before your treatment, as UV light can damage the skin and increase inflammation. If you need to be outside, apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

What can I expect post-treatment?

What to expect in the first 24 Hours
Expect redness similar to a moderate sunburn, along with tightness, dryness, and a burning sensation. Pinpoint bleeding may dry, and mild bruising is possible. Avoid cleansing the treatment area, but you may rinse with cool to warm water using clean fingertips and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Use only the Lift HG topical gel provided—do not apply any other skincare products or makeup. If washing your hair, avoid contact between shampoo/conditioner and your face. Reapply the Lift HG gel liberally throughout the day; a burning sensation and dryness are normal when applied.

What to expect from 24-48 hours
You may experience mild to moderate redness, skin flaking, mild breakouts, and possibly mild bruising. During this time, you can cleanse your face using a gentle cleanser, and continue applying the Rescue Calming Complex and Lift HG topical gel. After the first 24 hours, you may also start using sunscreen and makeup.

What to expect more than 48 hours
Peeling may continue for 5-7 days. Avoid using harsh exfoliants, acids, or retinoids for 7 days post-treatment. Refrain from moderate to severe sun exposure for 72 hours to prevent tanning or burning, and use SPF after the first 24 hours. Do not apply hydrocortisone creams to the treated area within the first 48 hours post-treatment.

Can I exfoliate my skin before treatment?

Please discontinue any products containing exfoliating agents (such as retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents) at least 24 hours before your treatment.

Can I book a treatment if I'm prescribed to Accutane?

Please wait 6 months following oral isotretinoin (ie: Accutane) use.

Can I book a microneedling treatment if I've recently had a neuromodulator injection or fillers?

Please discontinue any products containing exfoliating agents (such as retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents) at least 24 hours before your treatment.

Can I take NSAIDs before my treatment?

We recommend avoiding NSAIDs (e.g., Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve) and omega-3/fish oil supplements at least 24 hours before treatment, as these may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding in the treatment area.
